afl footy draft profiles & mock draft

Matthew Kruezer

November 9th, 2007

Matthew Kruezer – Northern Knights
Ht: 199cm Wt: 91kg
Junior position – Ruck/ Key Forward
AFL position – Ruck/ Key Forward
Kruezer is a sensational prospect. Tall, mobile and well coordinated ruckman who actually knows where to move on the footy field- which is a rarity for a big bloke. Blue Chipper.
Strengths: Mobility, Ball handling, Footy smarts, Work rate and Versatility
Weaknesses: Ruck technique - Prone to jump of two feet and leaves himself open to a rib tickler. Not exposed too much at TAC level but you could bet your last paso that Brogan, Lade, Ottens and Sandilands would expose this technique flaw and put some serious hurt on this young man. Exposure to equally talented opposition.
Question marks: Kruezer experienced a bit of a wake up when he competed against Natanui and Trengove who were equally athletic and able to go with Kruezer around the ground. Will experience the same at AFL level.
Draft Prediction: 1- Exciting prospect who could be a gun in the ruck or as a key forward.
Stats: : TAC 2007. Ratio 3 effective kicks to 1 ineffective is excellent. Similar ratio with handballs. 38 contested marks to 53 uncontested marks is also an excellent ratio. Scored 32 goals for the season from 17 games spending limited time up forward.
