Peter Rolfe – Federals/South Adelaide
Ht: 181 cm Wt: 73 kg
Junior position – HFF / FP
AFL position – HFF / FP
He won the McLean Medal for the best NT player at the Champs. Playing up forward he picked up bags of 3 and 4 goals and in most games looked better the longer the game went on. He is a good shot for goal and has pretty good range. He has a long flat left foot kick that he delivers well hitting targets up to 45 – 50 metres away. He is a good read off hands and shows good awareness of those around him. He spent some time in the middle later games at the Champs and won his share of the ball. He played the year in the reserves for South Adelaide.
Strengths: Good around goal and he works hard.
Weaknesses: Does not have any particular strength that sets him apart from a lot of other prospects.
Question marks: Does he have the tools to be an AFL player?
Draft Prediction: Rookie

Pat Dangerfield – Geelong Falcons
Ht: 188 cm Wt: 80 kg
Junior position – Midfield/HBF
AFL position – Midfield/HBF
Tall midfielder who has grown a little this year and is just past the 190cm mark now. Has good pace and reads the play well. Has been used in defence on the wing and in the middle this year for the Falcons. His kicking was a bit hit and miss in some games. Is pretty handy at the clearances when used in the middle. Bottom aged kid who has plenty of upside. Was used in a tagging role in the under 18 champs.
Strengths: Pace, size, ability to perform a number of roles.
Weaknesses: Ordinary kicking in some games; hasn’t really racked up huge numbers in the TAC Cup on a regular basis.
Question marks: The obvious question mark is with his kicking. Can he get the decision making process sorted and eliminate the shoddy kicks
Draft Prediction: 20-40

Matthew Quinton – ???
Ht: 192 cm Wt: 84 kg
Junior position – Key Position
AFL position – Key Position/ Tall Defender
Athletic, tallish defender who looks to have a fair amount of development left in him. Little fuss about his game and fulfils a task each week pretty well.
Strengths: Athleticism and a frame that looks like it could develop into an AFL sized body. Good in the air and a disciplined defender.
Weaknesses: Kicking needs to improve- technique a little clumsy. Doesn’t have a lot of flair to his game- I would like to see him utilise his athleticism more and run off his opponents.
Question marks:
Draft Prediction: 55+/rookie/undrafted.
Stats: TAC 2007. From 15 games Quinton had 81 effective and 35 ineffective kicks. He averaged approximately 11 disposals per game. He had 21 contested and 21 uncontested marks which illustrates his strength in the air and also he general lack of presentation during a game.

Marlon Motlop – Wanderers/Northern Territory
Ht: 176 cm Wt: 76 kg
Junior position – Midfield / HFF
AFL position – Midfield / HFF/FP
A lot of people were looking at Motlop with high expectations coming into the Champs this year and in all honesty he was a little disappointing. Clubs though are going to remember the U16 Champs last year where he was outstanding being named the best Div 2 player and leading the NT to the title. This year he struggled a little to adjust to the bigger bodies at U18 especially against NSW where he was virtually invisible. He improved as the Champs went along but was still not among the best for NT. Despite the ordinary performance at the Champs he is an exciting prospect with good skills, pace and awareness and balance. He plays a bit like Rioli in that he can play in the middle or up forward and a team that picked him up would be hoping he develops much the same way. He looks like he will develop a fairly solid build which should stand up to AFL football well. He is going to get picked up by a club with an eye to the future which can stash him away for a year or two to develop. Given time he could be a very nice player.
Strengths: He has a great deal of natural talent, is quick and good around goals.
Weaknesses: Endurance needs to improve. Needs to get stronger and work harder to get the ball.
Question marks: Given his struggles against the bigger U18 bodies how will he cope with AFL players?
Draft Prediction: 20-50

John Williams – Morningside
Ht: 187 cm Wt: ?? kg
Junior position – Wing
AFL position – Wing/utility
Williams was the big surprise invite to draft camp from Queensland. He missed the Champs this year with a dislocated shoulder but had a blinder for the under 21s in June. He plays on the wing and is a fast developing player who has obviously caught the eye of scouts with a number of high quality games in the AFLQ. He is very new to the game only seriously taking up the game this year after playing soccer, athletics and cricket at school. He started the year in the reserves but has come on in leaps and bounds. He was fourth in the AFLQ Rising Star this year. Is the brother of Tom Williams.
Strengths: Good agility and endurance. Comes from good sporting stock.
Weaknesses: Skills can be poor under pressure.
Question marks: Will clubs be tempted by another project player? Will he be able to hone his skills to AFL standard.
Draft Prediction: Rookie/undrafted

Jake Spencer – Redlands/Queensland
Ht: 203 cm Wt: 93 kg
Junior position – Ruck
AFL position – Ruck
Spencer originally from Townsville before moving to Brisbane has been a big developer this year. Possibly the best of the Queensland rucks at the championships he has continued to improve subsequently and was very good for Redlands in the AFLQ at the end of the year. He is a palm ruck who can ruck with either hand and who often gives his on-ballers first use of the ball in good position. He is a legitimate 203 and he uses his height well. At the moment he is pretty lightly built despite coming in at 93kgs and can get bumped around by more physical rucks. He moves pretty well for a big man and seems to have reasonable endurance. He certainly works hard on the ground and is not afraid to get in and mix it up Jamie Charman like. He is unlikely to ever be a high possession type ruck but he could win a lot of ball and provide good service allowing his team first use of the ball. He is pretty new to the game and there is plenty of potential for him to improve a great deal. He can kick off either foot and his skills have improved a lot over recent times.
Strengths: Good height and hard at it attitude. Has improved a great deal this year and is still a lot of potential for improvement in him.
Weaknesses Not really a factor around the ground.
Question marks: Will his rapid development continue
Draft Prediction: Rookie

Dayne Zorco – Broadbeach/Queensland
Ht: 176 cm Wt: 69 kg
Junior position – Rover/FP
AFL position – Rover
Zorko is one of those players on the cusp who has taken up every challenge and succeeded. He captained his State, was named Qld’s best player at the Champ, has starred for his club at senior level and was named MVP of the Allies match. Everything he could do in order to get picked he has done. In short Zorko is a footballer. He is a nuggetty (he has to be more than 69kgs) in and under player who is extremely hard at it and clears from packs well. His skills are okay without being fantastic but he usually has good clean hands especially in difficult conditions. He is a good crumbing forward and reads the ball off packs well. In addition he knows where the goals are and can be relied on to slot them when he gets the chance. He doesn’t have great pace and his body shape is not ideal for modern football
Strengths: : He is a player who you know is going to work hard at every opportunity and will do everything he can to succeed. He is tough and courageous and can win his fair share of the in and under contests. He also has good ability around goal which on top of his other attributes might be what gets him drafted.
Weaknesses: He is short and stocky with only average athleticism and does not have any one attribute that demands for him to be picked.
Question marks: Does he have the athleticism to play modern AFL football?
Draft Prediction: 60+/rookie

David Hill – Zillmere/Queensland
Ht: 202 cm Wt: 85 kg
Junior position – Ruck
AFL position – Ruck
His invite to camp was a surprise to many given that he struggled at the Champs and since. Clubs obviously remember some of his work from earlier in the year and especially in the Challenge Cup were he performed well. As a bottom aged ruck there is certainly a lot to like but more so there is plenty for Hill to work on. He is very light at the moment and does not have the strength to match it with even the older rucks at junior level. His tap work is only average and he struggles to establish and maintain position and even when he does the taps are rarely down the throat of his onballers. He moves nicely around the field and has good mobility and agility for a big guy. Disposal wise his skills are okay but he doesn’t get a huge amount of it at this stage.
Strengths: He has very nice size and potentially may not be finished growing yet. As a bottom aged ruck there is still a lot of developing left in him. His mobility is above average for a ruck.
Weaknesses: He is very thin at the moment and he needs a lot of time in the gym to build up both bulk and strength. At the moment he does not handle stronger ruckmen and that is basically everyone in the AFL
Question marks: With the abundance of rucks available this year are there too many holes to consider Hill this year?
Draft Prediction: undrafted.

Darin Stewart – Broadbeach/Queensland
Ht: 191 cm Wt: 87 kg
Junior position – CHF
AFL position – Tall forward
The owner of probably the worst kicking styles you would ever want to see. Notwithstanding his style though, he does tend to be an accurate kick. Played at CHF and overall had a pretty good Champs with the highlight being the 5 goal bag he picked up against Tasmania. He plays above his listed height (he could actually be taller), has great hands, moves well and can take a spectacular mark. Generally he just looks very dangerous whenever he is around the ball and if teams give him any room he will make them pay.
Strengths: In a marking contest he can compete with anyone
Weaknesses: May be a little short for a true key position
Question marks: Will his kicking stand up under pressure?
Draft Prediction: Rookie.

Daniel Brittain – Southport/Queensland Ht: 187 cm Wt: 77 kg Junior position – Inside Mid AFL position – Inside Mid Interestingly Brittain seems to have lost 5cms in height since last years Champs when he was listed at 183. If he measures in at 183 it is certainly going to help him more. Brittain has been a bit of a disappointment this year when many were expecting a lot from him. One of the few carry overs from last years very good Queensland team he largely failed to deliver. He didn’t play in the first game and didn’t do much in the second before coming back with a big last game. There have been reports that he has had injury problems for a fair bit of the year so teams might take that into consideration. He has had some good games this year but not enough to demand selection. He is a hard at it in and under who can on a good day win a lot of ball. His skills are good and he will hit his targets. He is football smart and can help out in defence or up forward very capably. Strengths: He is a ball winner who is hard in the contest. His good games can be very good. Weaknesses: Has shown no consistency and the difference between his good games and his bad games are marked. Question marks: How much have injuries been a factor this year? Draft Prediction: Rookie
