Ht: 193 cm Wt: 87 kg
Junior position – Key position-CHF/ CHB
AFL position – CHB/ Third Tall Defender
Spiteri slipped in 2007 after a very promising 2006. Spiteri is mobile with a decent work rate. However too often this year he has got lost during a game and been rendered ineffectual. Has been tried both forward and back to limited effect. Member of Metro squad in 2006 however missed out this year- Bad sign.
Strengths: Good mobility for size and times his leads well when he is “on” playing predominantly at CHF. Has decent disposal and makes pretty good choices with the footy.
Weaknesses: Goes missing too often during a game and doesn’t get enough of the footy. I would like him to be more desperate when playing back and has a tendency to shadow an opponent rather than spoil him.
Question marks: Mental side of the game. Wonder if young Jake thought it was inevitable for it all to happen for him in 2007?
Draft Prediction: 60+/ Rookie/ Undrafted.
Stats: TAC 2007. Ratio of almost 3 effective kicks to 1 ineffective is good enough. Very efficient by hand. Only 28 contested marks from 20 matches is slightly disappointing. 3 goals for the season disappointing. Averaged approx 14 possessions a game.
