DOB: 1 March 1987 Hgt: 188cm Wgt: 71kg
Position: On baller/forward
Natural Foot: Right
Honours:
- Initial Vic Country U18 Squad 2005
- AFL Draft Camp 2005
TAC Stats:
2004 TAC Cup: Did not play TAC Cup
2005 TAC Cup: 7 games, 13 goals, averaged 25.0 PPG, 3 times in best
TAC Awards:
2005 TAC Cup Coaches Award: 12 votes
2005 TAC Cup Morrish Medal: 3 votes
Background: Injured his knee while playing for the Bushrangers in Round 8 against the Western Jets, which resulted in him requiring a knee reconstruction. That, coupled with the fact he was not in the TAC Cup system in 2004 has made him one of the more interesting players in the 2005 draft. Had played some senior GVFL footy last year with Shepparton United (including four goals on debut) and was part of their losing under-18 premiership side, apparently playing under the eye of some AFL scouts who were already aware of the classy on baller/forward. Attended this year’s draft camp but was unable to participate in the physical testing.
Strengths:
- Strong overhead
- Was having a terrific TAC season until injury
- Has shown to be a smart, quality player who can kick goals
Weaknesses:
- Coming off knee reconstruction
- Hasn’t played a lot of footy, let alone been able to prove himself against other juniors in this draft.
- Some time off AFL footy, need to build up
Footydraft.com:
Real gamble, but speculation that he could be as high as a late first round pick. He was flying in the early part of the season and if clubs saw enough he could easily go in the top 20.
