Background:
Topped off an excellent season with selection in the TAC Cup Team of the Year. Playing pre-dominantly as a centre half forward with the occasional run in the ruck, McGuane took ten marks or more in six of his matches at the Falcons this season – including 17 the week after he was omitted from the final Vic Country 25 player squad (albeit against a weakened Gippsland side). Arguably unlucky not to be part of the final squad given he had been in decent form prior to the carnival.

Strengths:
- Strong marking player
- Hard worker/gives his all until spent

Weaknesses:
- Lack of pace
- 189cm measured pre-season, same at state testing, a bit small for true KPP at AFL
- Goal conversion

Footy Draft verdict:
Does play tall for his height, but needs to because he isn’t blessed with a lot of pace. There have been equivalent types to McGuane overlooked in previous drafts because the lack of height/lack of pace factor combined is a pretty significant negative. If McGuane is drafted, it would be expected as a late selection but a rookie may be more likely.
