Details:
Club: Werribee/Collingwood
DOB: 9 October 1981 Hgt: 192cm Wgt: 98kg
Position: Full Forward
Natural Foot: Right
Background:
A strongly built forward, Podsiadly has previously spent time at Essendon and Collingwood. It was well known that he was under Sydney’s radar prior to last year’s draft but they overlooked him in the end.
As a result he remained at Werribee this year and it was a successful move - he kicked 72 goals and won the VFL’s Frosty Miller Medal as the competition’s leading goalkicker. He was the deciding factor in many games – he provided a presence up forward which saw him able to quickly add goals but at times he even went down back to help out if needed. While he wasn’t able to top his best game from last year - 10 goals and 15 marks against Springvale – his consistency this year was terrific and he did have six games where he kicked five goals or more.
Strengths:
- powerful player who is strong one-on-one
- Excellent season in the VFL this year
- AFL ready and could slot straight into senior football – has been beating AFL listed players for the past two seasons.
Weaknesses:
- Has already been on two AFL lists (Collingwood and Essendon)
Footydraft.com comment:
Sydney was interested last year and he had a better season this year. Is worthy of another chance at AFL level. The Bulldogs might even consider selecting him with a late pick this year as they’ve seen plenty of him in their VFL affiliate Werribee.
