Half Back Flank in WAFL Colts Team of the Year 2004
National Draft Camp 2004
2004 WAFL Stats:
Colts: 10 games, 14 goals, 22.6 PPG
Reserves: 2 games, 0 goals, 16.0 PPG
Seniors: 3 games, 0 goals, 13.3 PPG
Strengths: Nathan is an athletic defender from West Perth who has had an excellent season in the WAFL, ending the year in the Seniors. He is a very vesatile player who can be used off a half-back flank but can also have spells in the midfield.
Van Berlo likes to get forward and kick a goal, and his foot disposal is very good. He is also a natural leader, having captained West Perth Colts during 2004. Good mark for his size. Had an excellent draft camp where he recorded the best results for the 3km run and the beep test, indicating his endurance is very good.
Weaknesses: Carnival form was only average. Although his kicking was good he never really found a lot of the football. Could be a touch more aggressive.
Footydraft.com comment: Good kick, versatile and athletic, Van Berlo should be considered later in the draft with a view to bolstering defensive depth or a possible role in the midfield.
