Position: Onballer/Back Pocket
Natural Foot: Left
Honours:
AIS/AFL Academy 2002
Western Australia 2003, 2004 (Captain)
National Draft Camp 2003, 2004
2004 WAFL Stats:
Reserves: 6 games, 1 goal, 10.5 PPG
Seniors: 3 games, 0 goals, 10.7 PPG
Strengths: This year’s captain of Western Australia, Richardson is a versatile player who can play onball or in defence. Richardson works very hard one-on-one and is very disciplined.
Richardson has spent most of the year playing senior WAFL football after getting an exemption. He is tough, an excellent tackler and can do a job on a player several inches taller than him. He generally makes good decisions when he has the football.
Weaknesses: Doesn’t gather a lot of possessions when playing midfield, and small defenders tend to be overlooked in the draft. Nothing outstanding about the way he plays, relies on his discipline and hard work rather than raw ability.
Footydraft.com comment: Would be considered a 'safe' selection at this stage of the draft, has good credentials and leadership skills. The question is can make the step up to AFL?
