Back Pocket in WAFL Colts Team of the Year 2004
National Draft Camp 2004
Strengths: Nye is a no nonsense back pocket who is good at not only keeping his man in check but providing drive out of defence as well. He is a booming kick and was the designated kickout player for WA in the carnival.
Ryan reads the play well, has a good leap for his size and has good balance. He is very good at working his way to the front of the contest and has great courage. Can also kick on either side.
Weaknesses: Again, back pockets don't tend to be highly sort by AFL clubs. May not have the capacity to play midfield at AFL level, leaving a small defending role as his only option.
Footydraft.com comment: Had a good season in WA and goes about it the right way. Perhaps more likely to be a rookie list player, but could be worth a late selection in the draft.
